Medical Expert Witness Liability Insurance (Errors and Omissions coverage)

Medical Expert and Witnesses can be sued for negligence in the preparation of their testimony. Physicians Who Return From Retirement Within Two Years Are Allowed to Reinstate Their Old Policy

The Doctors Insurance Agency has been providing Medical Professional Liability Insurance for Physicians, Mid-level Providers and Allied Healthcare Providers for decades. We are devoted to our members so they can count on us to be specialists at protecting their practice.

One of our doctors, a Family General Practitioner is considering returning from retirement. Physicians who return from retirement within (normally two years) are allowed to reinstate their old policy with The Doctors Company. The ‘retirement’ period would now be viewed as a suspension of coverage period. Upon return the Tail Insurance is rescinded and their retroactive date is reinstated.

Clinical Research Liability Insurance

The Doctors Insurance Agency has been providing Clinical Trial Medical Malpractice Insurance for clinical principal investigators and sub investigators for over 15 years.

As investments have flowed into clinical research, the FDA continues to work hard to fast track some drugs to market. The need for clinical research organization liability insurance, site management organization liability insurance, sponsor liability insurance and principal investigator liability insurance has grown concurrently.

Many of our medical malpractice insurance policies already include an endorsement to protect our doctors who work with clinical research sponsors and organizations. Specialists ranging from psychiatry to internal medicine are involved in behavioral health research and are very likely to have coverage via your medical malpractice policy. It is important to work with an agent or underwriter that understands your policy and that can explain this to the organizations doing the research.

Telemedicine and Medical Malpractice Insurance

The Doctors Insurance Agency is providing Health Care Providers and facilities with affordable, appropriately priced medical malpractice insurance.Again this week I learned as I continued this immersion into providing Medical Professional Liability Insurance for physicians, mid-level providers and allied healthcare providers that affordability is key in these early years - starting up a telehealth practice. You can't spend every available earned reimbursement paying your malpractice provider.

Start up telemedicine organizations are watching every dollar (as any entrepreneurial business). They are working hard to promote their business, reinvesting hard earned dollars in digital and paper marketing, traveling in buses and trains to attend shows, conventions and scientific meetings; often working in the margins of the day to provide the service that they are working so hard to promote.

Hospitalists? What Are Those?

In 2002, The Doctors Insurance Agency wrote our first hospitalist professional liability policy. This was a group of four internal medicine doctors working in the central Valley. What drove them to look for a separate policy is that they did not want their hospitalist work to impact their current medical practice, they wanted their claims history to be recorded and kept separate from their clinical practice. In part they did this out of caution, they were not sure this idea was going to work; and like many insurance carriers at the time, they were fearing that this concept might actually invite litigation and complaints.

Nurse Owned Clinics and the Medical Malpractice Insurance

For over 15 years our medical malpractice insurance agency provided Nurse Practitioners Professional Liability Insurance in a shared limit capacity by adding them to a medical doctors medical malpractice insurance policy.

Increased Access

And because it is less expensive to compensate nurse practitioners and because they provides an excellent care and spend more time with patients, physicians and all specialties have been adding these mid-level practitioners to their policies. Often times doctors will sign independent contractor agreements that drive their decision to purchase their own professional liability insurance policy.
